Veterans Day: Free Things to See, Do and Eat in Alexandria & Beyond

In honor of our nation’s veterans, George Washington’s magnificent estate in Alexandria, VA, MOUNT VERNON, admits FREE all active duty, former or retired military personnel.  Guests are also invited to place a flower at Washington’s Tomb where the Sons of the American Revolution and Daughters of the American Revolution will be presenting a wreath laying ceremony.  The Harmony Heritage Singers Barbershop chorus will be performing in the Auditorium at 11 a.m.

The list is long for restaurants offering free meals, so here is a great link, which is being constantly updated: Veterans Day Free Meals and Discounts

Hundreds of innkeepers across America have found a way to honor veterans, by offering free overnight stays and breakfast to veterans and active military, plus one guest. Check out participating inns and B&Bs here.

I’m sure there are more opportunities than just these across the country.  Know of a local business offering a special for our veterans on Veterans Day?  Post it in the comments below!
