If you’re interested in delving into a little Alexandria VA history and understanding not only Civil War-era military engineering but also how the Christmas holiday was celebrated, you won’t want to miss Christmas in Camp, which will be held Sat Dec 8, 2012 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM

Fort Ward Museum With a Victoria Christmas tree, period music, refreshments, readings of “The Night Before Christmas”, a patriotic Santa Claus and living-history interpreters, you can also enjoy a tour of the fort, which is the best preserved of the system of Union forts built to protect Washington, D.C. during the Civil War.

Fort Ward Historic Park includes two shelters, a playground, picnic areas, and a dog exercise area. Special events are held on the grounds including Civil War and Revolutionary War re-enactments and live musical concerts.
